Jean-Pierre Deflandre is Professor at IFP School and has been teaching in various Masters programs since 2008 in the field of CO2 management and unconventional hydrocarbons. He co-directs the IFP School chair “Carbon Management and negative CO2 emissions technologies: towards a low carbon future” (CarMa) since its creation in 2019. He manages the IFP School MOOC on energy transition, which he designed in 2019. Today, he is also involved in several projects dealing with societal issues related to the energy transition. He was previously in charge of European research projects on CO2 geological storage for the Georesources & Energy business unit of IFP Energies nouvelles.
He is also lecturer at CentraleSupélec Paris-Saclay and Rennes, Ecole Polytechnique, Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Paris-Saclay on Carbon Capture and Storage, at Ecole Centrale d’Electronique (Paris) and SupEnr Perpignan on the oil & gas upstream chain and its decarbonization.
He was the 2011-2013 SPE France chairperson and chairs the CO2 Committee of Evolen since 2014.
